Understanding Game Categories

Understand what slots, live casino, table, crash, and sports categories describe—and what a category label does not tell you.

What a category does

A category groups games by broad format, rules, or event type. Slots center on symbol outcomes, table games model card or wheel rules, live casino uses a streamed host or physical equipment, crash games use a rising multiplier event, and sports betting concerns external sporting events. Categories are navigation tools, not quality scores.

Category, theme, and mechanic

Theme describes presentation, such as mythology or space. Mechanic describes how play behaves, such as tumbling symbols, card drawing, or a multiplier. One mythology-themed game may be a slot and another a live game; one slot may use several mechanics. Read each field independently.

Why labels can overlap

Platforms may place the same title in more than one collection for discovery. A live game can also be a table game, and a sports product can include live or pre-match markets. Overlap is useful when it reflects real attributes, but marketing collections should not be confused with controlled categories.

What categories do not prove

A label does not establish RTP, volatility, fairness, availability, legality, or suitability. Those require separate evidence. It also does not tell you whether a game supports demo play, a specific device, or your language.

How to browse responsibly

Choose a category to narrow format, then inspect the individual game's rules and verified facts. Compare only titles with the attributes you care about, and avoid using a broad category reputation as a substitute for game-level information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one game belong to multiple categories?

Yes when it genuinely matches more than one controlled classification, such as a live version of a table game.

Is a theme a category?

No. Theme describes subject or visual setting; category describes the broader game format.

Are collections the same as categories?

Not necessarily. Collections may be editorial or promotional groupings, while categories should use stable classification rules.

Does category determine risk?

No single category label measures personal or financial risk. Review the specific product, pace, rules, and your own limits.

Where should a beginner start?

Start with rules-based descriptions, use demo information where lawful and available, and read the individual game's help material.
